What to Expect at Therapy
Before we start
A free 15-minute consultation by video. You describe what's going on in whatever shape it comes out, ask any questions, and decide to book if you think we’re a good fit. The real work comes from the relationship that you and I build so fit is really important.
Sessions are online
Sessions are conducted through secure video platform for clients living in Ontario. That means no commute, no waiting room, and no running into anyone you know in a hallway. It also means you'll need somewhere quiet and private, where you can talk freely without being overheard.
The first session
All sessions are 50 minutes. You don't need a tidy summary, a chronological account, or a reason serious enough to justify being there. “I don't really know why I'm here” is a perfectly good place for us to start.
It's common to leave a first session feeling stirred up rather than relieved. Talking about hard things is messy.
After that
Most people start with weekly sessions, then move to every other week as things settle. We'll talk openly about your goals and check on your progress regularly. You’re not committed to a specific number of sessions—our relationship may be long or short and you’re in charge.
